Pirelli, through motorsport boss Mario Isola revealed that the construction of the 2022 tire compounds has been finalized and that only wet and intermediate tires still have to be worked on.
The Italian tire manufacturer closely worked with several teams over both 2020 and 2021 seasons in order to collect data and test the proposed 2022 dry weather tire compounds.
“The construction is finalized. It was finalized a few sessions ago because obviously, first of all, you need to have a consistent baseline in terms of a profile and construction to develop then the compounds,” Isola revealed to GPFans.
“We still have some work to do on the wet and intermediate tires. We have a session that is planned for mid-September in Magny Cours.
“This is the last test and then, we see in Abu Dhabi, the slick tire, the confirmation of the slick tire of the behavior on the new cars,” Isola commented.
