Max Verstappen believes that Red Bull Racing should keep improving the RB16B car to keep up with Mercedes’ progress.
Latest two races of the first half of the 2021 Formula 1 season have been quite unsuccessful for Red Bull Racing and its leader Verstappen as they lost the lead in both championships after numerous misfortunes. More than that, Mercedes has upgraded the car, which gives the Silver Arrows even more advantage. Verstappen thinks that Red Bull still needs to work on the current car to recover the form.
“It’s now up to us to keep working to find the one- or two-tenths of a second that Mercedes has taken back during the season,” he told De Telegraaf.
“They were so dominant the years before. In that respect, we are in a much better position this season.”
The Dutchman also reassures that Red Bull is not going to give up the championship fight this year and will keep updating the car.
“We’ll have to see what else we can get out of the car. In Hungary, for example, Mercedes introduced a new floor,” Verstappen commented.
“I’m sure we can make it an exciting battle. We always have a good chance to win and don’t have to give up all of a sudden.”
