Marcin Budkowski, Alpine Executive Director, has revealed that the French outfit has decided to stop developing the current car to fully focus on the 2022 season.
Starting from the next season, brand new cars will debut in Formula One amid the new rule changes already planned for 2021, but delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, many teams already decided to stop focusing on improving the current cars to have the best performance possible next year.
Budkowski also added some little parts are already scheduled to arrive in the second part of the season, but other than that, Alpine fully switched its focus on the next year’s car.
“It’s been a big push from the start of the season with both Enstone and Viry working hard to develop the car,” he said.
“The focus has now switched entirely to 2022 at both factories, meaning fewer new parts are coming to the track, but the second half of the calendar is a grueling schedule and everyone in the team looks forward to the two-week break to recharge.
“But, before we can relax, we are aiming for another strong showing and a double points finish in Hungary.”
