Valtteri Bottas finished the Silverstone GP in the same position in which he started, P3. However, he believes that if he had delayed the pit stop by a few laps, the race would have been different for him.
Valtteri could not catch Charles Leclerc after pitting to fit hard tires, and he also had to let his teammate through to allow him to catch Charles. The Finnish driver thinks that the lack of pace at the end of the race was due to the early pit stop.
“Yeah, I think the weakness today was that we had thoughts on both races,” Bottas told Sky pundit Jenson Button after the race.
“I was wheel-spinning quite a bit, just like Lewis [Hamilton] yesterday, so that that made it a bit more difficult. We also had to react to the pitstop of Lando [Norris].
“We stopped a bit too early to be competitive towards the end but at least we got Lando and also nicely helped Lewis, considering the early stuff, its fantastic points. He must be positive and confident moving forward to the next few races, as we are as a team.”
Looking after the tires was not Bottas’ only problem. he also admitted that his drinking button was not working, and he could not hydrate during the race.
“Yeah, I had no drinks, the drink system didn’t work!” the Finnish driver added.
