Lando Noris and George Russell have both announced their support for countryman Lewis Hamilton’s title bid.

Hamilton is over 30 points down in the race for the 2021 World Championship, however, the season is now reaching a few tracks where he, and Mercedes, have historically gone well at. McLaren’s Norris and Williams’ Russell have both announced their support for Hamilton on his quest for title number eight.

“I mean I’m hoping it’s coming home of course,” Norris said. “But it looks a tough game, tough battle, and Max is looking very strong, so a high chance and probability it’s going to go Dutch.”

“But I’m supporting Lewis, I’m supporting my fellow countryman. I wish him all the best, and both of them all the best, in the fight for the championship.”

When asked the same question, Russel said: “There’s a long way to go, you can never discount Mercedes and Lewis. They’re an exceptional team. Max and Red Bull seem to be on it at the moment and everything’s just going their way, but in sport, in Formula 1, things can change in a heartbeat.”

Formula 1 returns this weekend for the British Grand Prix, where the new sprint qualifying system will be trialed for the first time.
