Bernie Ecclestone supposes that AlphaTauri can be Mick Schumacher’s newest destination in Formula 1.
The Haas driver and reigning Formula 2 champion Schumacher is halfway through his rookie season in Formula 1. With the Silly Season getting underway, Ecclestone has made an interesting guess regarding the German’s future.
“From the beginning, I would have liked him to perhaps go to Alfa Romeo. There he would have had a fast, experienced teammate in Kimi Raikkonen, who at the same time had a very good relationship with his father,” he told Bild.
“I could well imagine Mick in AlphaTauri as the next team. They do a good job and have an experienced man in Franz Tost who can handle young talents very well.”
“Mick doesn’t know where he really stands as a driver in his current team. To do this, he simply needs a better, more competitive car.”
Ecclestone also supposes that Schumacher needs a stronger teammate.
“He beats his teammate, and that’s the most important thing for every driver,” he added. “However, that doesn’t say too much with Mazepin. Mick needs a faster teammate so he knows where he stands.”
