Despite leading the championship by 32 points, Max Verstappen knows that there is still a lot of work to do for Red Bull. Especially at Silverstone, the next race, it will be hard to beat Mercedes.
Verstappen dominated both weekends in Austria, and he extended his lead in the championship. Despite that, he does not want to be too confident and wants to be focused on the rest of the season, saying that it will be important for the team to be competitive on every track.
“I am focused on the rest of the season. There is still a lot to do, and there are many points at stake. We need to make sure that every weekend we use the potential of the car to the fullest.”
“We have had a good car in Austria, I think it has been very dominant. But we have to make sure that at Silverstone, we are there again. That is what we are going to examine to make sure that we are also very competitive there,” he added.
Also, Christian Horner is aware that it is not going to be easy to win at Silverstone, a track that has always seen Mercedes dominate. Plus, it is the home race for Lewis Hamilton, and the fans will be back at the circuit, giving him extra confidence during the weekend.
“Now we are going to a circuit that has been very favorable for Mercedes in the last seven years. The German team has been incredibly strong there, and Lewis races at home with the support of the fans,” said Christian Horner.
