AlphaTauri does 18-inch wheel testing at Red Bull Ring

AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda are a part of the two-day testing of the 18-inch tires on behalf of Pirelli. They are staying for two days in Austria, till Wednesday, to conduct the tests at the Red Bull Ring.

The cars for the testing are repurposed 2018-2019 Toro Rosso cars, which have different brakes and suspensions in accordance with the larger wheels being tested.

On Tuesday, Gasly will be at the helm of the car, when on Wednesday, the rookie Tsunoda will be driving. AlphaTauri hopes through the intensive test program that they do not fall behind their rivals.

The 18-inch tires are set to be introduced in 2022.
