Valtteri Bottas has said there is ‘work to do’ before Silverstone, after having Lando Norris on his tail all race.

Second place was a good result for Bottas, his best of the year so far, but he was kept honest all the way by McLaren and Norris. The Mercedes driver seems to believe McLaren will be just as fast in Silverstone in two weeks’ time. Despite this, he was happy with his performances this weekend.

“One place better from last week,” he said. “I think as a team we got decent points considering the gap we have to red bull in terms of pure race so for me it’s nice to be in second place and maximizes what we can get today.”

“McLaren was really quick today and putting some pressure, so yeah, until Silverstone we got some work to do.”

Despite Sergio Perez finishing sixth, Mercedes lost three points to Red Bull in the constructors’ standings, as Formula 1 has a weekend break before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
