Nicholas Latifi and Nikita Mazepin were both heavily penalized for ignoring yellow flags. Both received a 30-second time penalty.

Several drivers were summoned to the stewards after the race to answer for ignoring the double yellow flags on the last lap, when Raikkonen and Vettel crashed after turn 4. The decision was made that Mazepin and Latifi would both receive a 10-second stop-and-go penalty, which would be replaced with a 30-second time penalty.

The FIA then also issued statements on the two drivers.

“The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 9 (Nikita Mazepin), team representative and reviewed video and telemetry evidence.”

“The Stewards analyzed the telemetry of the driver concerned who did not slow down sufficiently for the double waved and yellow sector.”

“The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 6 (Nicolas Latifi), team representative and reviewed video and telemetry evidence.”

“The Stewards analyzed the telemetry of the driver concerned who did not slow down sufficiently for the double waved and yellow sector.”

Both drivers also received 3 penalty points. Latifi has thus collected 6 penalty points and Mazepin 5 penalty points in the last 12 months.
