Charles Leclerc is frustrated with not getting to Q3 on Saturday but admits that the tire choice option is a good thing to have ahead of the race.

The Austrian GP qualifying was not successful for Scuderia Ferrari – Sainz and Leclerc finished the session 11th and 12th respectively. The Monegasque, however, was not too disappointed about the outcome of the day because of free tire choice for the race. At the same time, he was not glad that both cars were outqualified by George Russell.

“It was kind of the plan to not go to Q3 to be honest because we wanted to have a free choice for tomorrow, but on the other hand I’m a bit disappointed; obviously the best would be to go to Q3 on the medium [tire], which Williams managed to do with George which is very impressive, and that’s what leaves me a bit disappointed today,” Leclerc said.

“To be behind them [Williams] on a medium is not great,” he added.
