Bowman: We’ve been a team that ends the day better than started

Alex Bowman is happy to be on top in final laps of races, which allows him to win.

Hendrick Motorsports’ no.48 car driver Bowman won his third NASCAR Cup Series race in 2021 after taking the checkered flag due to Kyle Larson’s flat tire at the final turn of the final lap. In fact, all three victories came to Bowman in the ending stretch of the events. The Tucson, AZ native is glad to have the momentum in clutch moments thanks to different circumstances.

“I wish there was something that I was like: ‘Yeah, I’m doing this.’ I think it’s all pretty situational. We were really strong on that short run to end Richmond. Here I just got a hell of a push from the 12 [Ryan Blaney] to be able to clear the 18 [Kyle Busch]. Hendrick horsepower doesn’t hurt by any means,” he said.

At the same time, he admits that Larson’s tire issue has helped him to get to the victory lane: “Obviously got pretty lucky there with Kyle’s misfortune.”

In the end, Bowman believes that the team does better in the end of the race rather than at its start and he is delighted with it.

“I mean, I feel like we’ve always been a team that ends the day better than we started the day. We’ve never been that like win stages type of team, but we’ve won our share of races here lately,” he added.

“Yeah, I don’t know exactly what it is, but glad it’s working out lately.”
