Fernando Alonso managed to put his Alpine in P9 for the Styrian GP qualifying. He has beaten his teammate once again, and he hopes to score points on Sunday.
The Spaniard admitted that it was not an easy qualifying session since the gaps between every team were extremely close.
“Happy, it was a very stressful qualifying. Today in the morning we lost competitiveness. It was possibly the best qualifying of the year, the return of Q2 was good. We start tomorrow on the clean side and see if we can consolidate the points. I have been much more comfortable than in Bahrain and Imola.”
After FP3, Alonso was not happy with the car, but the team decided to risk and change something with the car. The decision paid off in the end as he qualified ninth.
“We have done some experiments. We found ourselves in real difficulty in FP3, and we made changes, we did not mind making them. Tomorrow there may be rain, and it can change everything, but the best thing is to get out as far as possible.”
