Max Verstappen has come out victorious from the Austrian GP in 2018 and 2019. The Dutch will attempt to repeat this weekend but wants to remain concentrated, knowing nothing is done and preparing for another close battle with Mercedes.
After a successful French Grand Prix, Verstappen has now a twelve points advantage over championship rival Lewis Hamilton. Winning in Austria would further strengthen his championship position.
The upcoming doubleheader will have a different dimension for Red Bull that are playing on home soil, giving them an even greater hunger for victory. Nonetheless, although the Austrian squad seems in greater shape than ever, Verstappen remains calm and knows he has a tough weekend ahead.
“We’ve had good results in the past but it’s not a guarantee [for this weekend]. We have to again set up the car well there and read the conditions well,” Verstappen admitted, mentioning the high raining probability for the weekend.
“I’m looking forward to it, first of all, of course, because it’s like a home Grand Prix.”
“I don’t know what the weather is going to be like, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m for sure expecting it to be close again but yeah, we’ll find out when we are there.”
