Lewis Hamilton has confirmed he is already in contact negotiation talks with Mercedes and admitted he was Valtteri Bottas to remain his teammate during the 2022 season.

The Silver Arrows delayed to make a deal with the 7-time World Champion before the start of this season, partly because both Hamilton and team principal Toto Wolff were positive for Covid-19. Now, Hamilton confirmed he already is talking with his team about the future.

“We have begun discussions,” he said. “Not a lot to say too much but we have started discussions and things are positive.”

Multiple rumors suggest that Mercedes will replace Valtteri Bottas witn the young star of George Russell, but Hamilton admitted he wants the Finn to continue as his teammate.

“Valtteri is my team now and we’ve both of us had our ups and downs in our careers,” he said. “But as I said, I think he is a fantastic team mate and I don’t necessarily see that it needs to change.”
