Chase Elliott has been disqualified from the NASCAR Cup Series at Nashville due to 5 loose lug nuts found in the post-race inspection.

Elliott finished the race in the 13th position as he dropped back on the final green flag run. His car was later disqualified from the race due to five loose lug nuts, the only car from HMS not to score a top-10 position, as Kyle Larson won the race and William Byron finished third.

“It’s unfortunate that the lug nuts vibrated loose on the left rear and now we are sitting here with a disqualification for the 9 team,” Hendrick Motorsports VP of competition Chad Knaus said in a statement.

Elliott responded on Twitter: “If it had come off and we crash, we would then get to keep our stage points? Honest question.”
