Aric Almirola has won the first-ever NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday morning.

Ahead of the historic Cup Series race at Nashville, qualifying took place to determine the grid for Sunday’s event.

Ross Chastain was the first driver to set the lap time and just went over the 30-second mark – 30.003. However, Aric Almirola went nearly half a second faster. Stewart-Haas Racing had good form as Almirola, Custer, and Briscoe were in the top 3 in the early stage of the session.

The qualifying did not go as planned for Quin Houff as the no.00 car driver touched the wall, ending his run early.

Joey Logano finally spilt the Stewart-Haas Racing teammates, being just 0.026 seconds away from Almirola. Erik Jones had a slight contact with the wall, but it did not affect his result much.

The Xfinity Series race winner Kyle Busch had an impressive lap, but it was still not enough to catch Almirola – 0.015 seconds shy. The quickest driver in practice William Byron lost 0.055 seconds.

All in all, Almirola’s lap time stayed unbeaten, so the no.10 car driver took his third Cup Series pole position. Kyle Busch qualified second, while Logano completed the top 3.
