Aston Martin team boss Otmar Szafnauer has said Sebastian Vettel’s thorough debriefs have changed how the team works for the better.
Fifth place and second place for Vettel in the past two races mean Vettel now lays ninth in the championship, after being outside the top 15 coming into Monaco. Szafnauer believes Vettel’s in-depth debriefs to be part of the reason for his swing in form, as it’s helped the team get him accustomed to the car.
“Sebastian has expanded the way we do things,” he said.
“Lance isn’t a rookie, he’s been with us for a while now and there’s a good dynamic between Lance and Sebastian. Sebastian does have more experience and the way we go about debriefs now has changed a bit… not just Lance but the entire team have embraced that.”
“He was getting better and better… I shouldn’t say better and better, but more and more comfortable in the car, I think it’s a progression of little steps. It’s a logical incrementalism to get to the peak.”
Vettel will hope to find more points in France, where Formula 1 heads next on the 20th of June.
