The second round of the Formula 3 season is just around the corner and Jenzer Motorsport announced that Johnathan Hoggard will replace Pierre-Louis Chovet at Le Castellet.
Hoggard already drove the Formula 3 cars during the post-season testing last year in Barcelona and Jerez. However, he did not do the same either during the pre-season testing or during the first Grand Prix of the season.
“This was unexpected and happened so fast,” said Hoggard. “I have worked for this opportunity for years, and I will give my best from Paul Ricard on.”
In 2018, Hoggard finished third in the British Formula 3 Championship. In 2019 he took second place in the BRDC British Formula 3, and he won that same championship the following season.
Since he managed to win in that category, he had the chance to test one of the Red Bull Racing’s RB8s at Silverstone.
“Getting a new driver on board after all official tests and the first round over is always challenging but we trust Johnathan to be fully involved and dedicated to catching this opportunity,” said Andreas Jenzer, the Team Principal.
