Alex Rins will miss his home round in Barcelona after breaking his arm from a cycling crash. He will undergo surgery tomorrow to stabilize the break.

Rins will likely be ruled out of the next doubleheader too, as he’s broken his right arm thanks to the crash while cycling around the Barcelona circuit pre-weekend. He will undergo surgery tomorrow in Dexeus Hospital to stabilize the break.

Suzuki issued a statement after the incident.

“The Spaniard fell during a training lap and as a result, he suffered damage to his right arm, with a large contused area and a lot of pain. He was quickly taken to Barcelona’s Universitari Dexeus Hospital for further examinations and the medical checks revealed a fracture in the radius bone.”

“The fracture was immobilised and tomorrow morning Alex will undergo surgery to fix it.”

It’s another blow to a difficult season for the Spaniard, who languishes outside the top 10 in the world title, and he can now turn his hopes to the 2022 season, as his title bid can officially now be called closed. Sylvain Guintolini may be drafted in as a last-minute replacement, but this is subject to confirmation.
