After being replaced by Jack Aitken for the Formula 2 Monaco Grand Prix, Matteo Nannini will come back to the championship in Azerbaijan with Campos Racing, replacing Gianluca Petecof.
Nannini proved to be a promising driver after already displaying good results at his first F2 Grand Prix weekend in Bahrain, finishing P10 in the Feature Race and scoring HWA’s only point so far.
However, being a good driver does not always rhyme with securing a seat and the Italian driver, unfortunately, had to give up on his Formula 2 dreams right before the start of the Monaco GP weekend, when one of his sponsors dropped him.
Two weeks later, the 17-year-old is already back to business as he will replace Petecof at Campos for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after the Brazilian encountered a very difficult season start, not scoring a single point after two race weekends, while his teammate Ralph Boschung already had 22 to his account.
“I am very happy with the opportunity that Campos Racing have given me,” Nannini said.
“I had a special friendship with Adrian Campos.”
“He will surely be very happy and will look at us from up there. I will give my best on the track. I thank all the Campos family again.”
