Hendrick Motorsports has broken the record of the most Cup Series victories, achieving 269 of them as Kyle Larson won the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. Speaking after the race, Rick Hendrick said he never thought he’d win a NASCAR race.

“I really wanted to break the record at home. I really wanted to break the record at Charlotte. When the race started, and it looked like we would be very strong, with all of them running in the top 5, I thought we really got a shot tonight.

“I’ll remember that I started a mile from here in a little building, and never thought I’d win a NASCAR race, didn’t think I’d belong when I got to Daytona for the first time, when I looked at the Wood brothers and Junior Johnson and Richard Petty and I’m like, ‘I don’t know what I’m doing here’.

“I’ll think about all of those things, and I’ll think about breaking this record, because, again, it’s huge for our company to win 269 races.”
