For the second race in a row, Team Project 1’s Porsche number 46 will withdraw from the event, following Anders Buchardt’s accident during the WEC Prologue at Spa.
After withdrawing the two of their competitors for the WEC season opener in Belgium, Team Project 1 will face another disappointment following Anders Buchardt’s crash during the WEC Prologue ahead of the 6 Hours of Spa.
Team Project 1’s Porsche number 46 withdrew its participation in the 8 Hours of Portimao that will take place on June 13th. The German team will therefore enter the event with a single car, the Porsche number 56 driven by Egidio Perfetti, Matteo Cairoli, and Riccardo Pera.
After clinching the LMGTE Am title in 2019, Project 1 then finished the 2020 season in P3 and decided to come back with two competitors in 2021 to try to seize the title and regain possession of the 24 Hours of Le Mans’ trophy that they won in 2019. However, after withdrawing two cars from the 6 Hours of Spa, the season already looks compromised for Project 1 that will have to chain up exceptional results if they want to be crowned in GTE Am.
