Andretti United are at the top of the scoreboard of the Extreme E’s Ocean X-Prix shakedown.

The Ocean X-Prix is set to be one of the toughest and most technical events of the Extreme E calendar. On Friday, the teams were allowed to get a first taste of what is in store for them during the shakedown, here is the session recap.

The Senegalese track has been delimited between the ocean and the lake rose, combining impressive straights right next to the ocean and a more sinuous sector, the whole sprinkled with some good jumps, making the Ocean X-Prix a very technical event in which the drivers will have to be extremely careful to not get caught by surprise by the specificities of the venue.

Friday’s shakedown consolidated the form of Nico Rosberg’s and Lewis Hamilton’s teams. It looks like the two former Formula 1 teammates are set to reembark for an amazing rivalry, this time in Extreme E. However, at the end of the first day of racing, Andretti United took the lead of the timetable, lapping the layout twice in 11:29.863, more than 1 second faster than its two pursuers.

Today’s practice session was especially important for the duets, considering that they had to complete two laps, changing the driver in the middle of the time trial. This allowed the teams to have a complete practice and get a first feeling of what to expect during the qualifying session and the race.

The two qualifying sessions of the X-Prix will take place tomorrow at 13:30 and 18:00 CET as the battle is already looking extremely tight for the lead, considering the ridiculously tiny gaps separating the top 3.
