Red Bull’s Sergio Perez has said he is happy he managed to salvage a fourth place from ninth in Monaco, his equal best finish for Red Bull.

Perez had a lackluster qualifying on Saturday, but through inspired strategy and good driving, made it to fourth at the flag. Perez said he was happy with the result, which has helped elevate Red Bull to the top of the standings.

“I’m pleased with the result today. I think for the team, it’s a good one especially, a good day… We managed to minimize the damage from Saturday… but it’s only the fifth race of the season.”

“We have to work on that Saturday, try to find a better direction on the car and we’re going to be very competitive. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us but I think once I’m comfortable with the car, we’re going to see very big steps and a lot of points for the team.”

Formula 1 next moves to Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where Perez has taken two podiums and will look to add a third.
