Antonio Giovanazzi has said he’s “disappointed in the lap”, but “happy for the team” after giving Alfa Romeo their first Q3 of 2021.

P10 was where Giovanazzi landed his Alfa Romeo in qualifying today. He, as with everyone else, was hampered by Charles Leclerc’s accident that ended the session early, but Giovanazzi was overall happy.

“I am really happy about our first Q3 of the season,” said Giovinazzi.

“We put it all together and finally got what we have been deserving for a while. We did everything right – the car felt great from the start of the weekend, the team sent us out at just the right time and we put the lap together when it mattered.”

“I’m a little bit disappointed just for the last lap in Q3 because I only had one set and maybe P8, P9 was possible,” he added. “But we need to still be happy with this performance.”

Giovanazzi will be hoping to emulate his P10 in the race, to give Alfa Romeo their first points of the year.
