Williams Racing’s Dave Robson thinks that George Russell’s performance is close to what Lewis Hamiton has achieved in the early part of his Formula 1 career.
The 2018 Formula 2 champion Russell has always been pushing to the absolute limit since his debut at Williams with a number of incredible performances in both qualifyings and races. Williams’ head of vehicle performance Dave Robson thinks that the young Briton is around the level that Lewis Hamilton has reached in the opening stage of his F1 career.
“I think there are definitely some similarities there. And they were obvious from the first time I met George and we ran him in the simulator in Grove. Then we went up and run him around the airfield in a road car,” Robson said.
“Again, there was something. There was something there,” he added.
Robson also supposes that Russell can achieve the same success that Hamilton has now.
“I think the talent is there. I think he is very close to Lewis and has the potential to get there. For sure.”
