A new challenger is set to enter the battle to claim the LMP2 crown at the 6H of Monza and the 24 Hours of Le Mans – Risi Competizione. The Italian team announced its driver lineup and will make its first official appearance in July, at the 6H of Monza.
Earlier this year, Risi Competizione set foot on American soil, at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Italian team competed in the GTE class behind the wheel of a Ferrari 488 GTE. This time around, Risi Competizione will make the next step, competing in Europe, in the LMP2 category.
After gathering some endurance-racing experience at Daytona, the team is now preparing for a home race: the 6 Hours of Monza on July 17th-18th. One month later, on August 21st-22nd, they will challenge the rest of the LMP2 grid and attempt to claim victory at the world’s most prestigious endurance race – the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
For this exceptional challenge, the team owner Giuseppe Risi gathered a very solid driver lineup composed of Felipe Nasr, Oliver Jarvis, and Ryan Cullen.
“Racing at Le Mans never gets old to me,” Risi said. “We are pleased to add the Risi Competizione name to the LMP2 class history at Le Mans with this year’s effort with Ryan, Oliver, and Felipe at the wheel.”
“When the prospect to race the car at the 6 Hours of Monza WEC race became an option, we felt it was an excellent opportunity to have the drivers and crew all be able to work together and with the car before such a grueling race as Le Mans.”
