Formula 1’s Sporting Director, Ross Brawn, believes that Ferrari will come knocking on the door of the top 2 teams in the very near future.

Brawn, who used to work at Ferrari during their success in the mid-2000s, before engineering the famous Brawn GP title in 2009, believes the balanced line-up will propel the Scuderia forward.

Ferrari has already bounced back in fine style after a dismal 2020, to sit quite comfortably in fourth in the constructor standings, knocking on the door of McLaren for third. Brawn thinks the trajectory will continue to be up after a strong double-points last weekend at Spain.

“It will not take Ferrari much longer to knock on the door of the Top 2 and that is quite remarkable given the position in which they finished 2020,” Brawn said in his column on F1.com.

“There is also a great dynamic between Charles and Carlos right now and I don’t think the advantages that come with that can be underestimated. The team is operating at a very high level and they have a package that has proven to be fast on a variety of different circuits. On the track the car looks good, you don’t get the feeling that it doesn’t deserve to be in the position it is in.”

Ferrari heads into the next round at Monaco in fourth with 60 points. If they finish ahead of McLaren they will take third as they are just five points behind the British team.
