Justin Allgaier is not concerned about the Xfinity Series Playoffs and title fight as it is “May 8th”.
After his victory at Darlington Raceway, Justin Allgaier became the second driver in the field with multiple victories in the 2021 season together with Austin Cindric, which definitely was a significant achievement. After the triumph at The Track Too Tough to Tame, Allgaier spoke about whether he had thoughts about the title in his mind.
“It’s like May 8th, right? We’re so long away from the Playoffs,” Allgaier told ASN Motorsports. “I’ve been in this situation where we’ve been fortunate to win races and get to the Playoffs and tanned completely. So, for me this year, I’ve changed my approach a little bit. I’m looking at each race as they come. You can only give a 100% for me.”
“As a team, as a driver – I have to be prepared, the team has to be prepared,” he added.
At the same time, the JR Motorsports driver admitted that he was not thinking about the races in a long perspective, putting focus on each race weekend as it comes.
“I know Dover is next week only because I was having a conversation with somebody the other day, but I didn’t know what race was next after that. After Dover, I do know that COTA and Charlotte are coming up only because my wife is on pins and needles because that’s around the time that we do [birth of Allgaier’s child], she’s worried that I’m not going to make it back home when she gives birth for our second child,” he commented.
“So, that’s the only reason I really know that. After Charlotte, I’ll be honest with you, I have no idea what’s coming up and it’s only for a simple fact that for me right now it’s understanding what race we have in front of us, the task in front of us, preparing for that race the best we can.”
In the end, the no.7 car driver shared that he would do the same approach to preparation during the Playoffs.
“When we get to the Playoffs, I don’t plan on changing that. When we start these Playoffs, I’m going to prepare for that particular race and that’s it.”
