MotoGP’s leading rookie Enea Bastianini says that Jerez will be a different challenge as “everyone is fast” around the track.

Bastianini comes into this weekend as the lead rookie, after taking three consecutive points scoring positions to kick off the year. Two of those have been top 10’s, and he has impressed a lot of the experienced riders. With Jorge Martin out of the equation for the near future, it gives Bastianini opportunity to put a gap between himself and Martin for 2021 rookie of the year honors.

Speaking ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, Bastianini said that Jerez is a favorite track of his, adding that it will be challenging to be at the front due to its use as a testing facility.

“Jerez is a track that I really like. Here we are all very fast so it will be even more difficult to be in front. Our objective is to get a good time in qualifying, my goal is to work to achieve it.”

“I am very happy with the work we do in Portimao. We started a little behind, but in the end, we managed to be competitive in the race. My goal in Jerez is to be fast from the first day.”
