United Autosports from the LMP2 class is the quickest team in the first session of the WEC’s Season 9 Prologue.
As we are just about to start the new season of the World Endurance Championship, the teams and the drivers got to drive their race cars around Spa-Francorchamps as a part of Prologue, which had already given some surprises.
The morning session had a lot of incidents. United Autosport’s Filipe Albuqueque stopped on a sausage curb. Then, TF Sport’s Ben Keating had a crash at the Eau Rouge/Raidillion section. The crash was quite big and the driver was sent to make medical checks. Thankfully, there were no big injuries. D’station Racing’s Satoshi Hoshino had an incident at the same spot and the morning session was stopped early due to damaged tire barriers.
It was not the Hypercar on the top of the timesheet, but an LMP2. Filipe Albuquerque was the quickest in the morning with the lap time of 2:04.968.
The leaders were changing quite rapidly in the afternoon session. It was Albuquerque again, who had the quickest time of the session – 2:04.882. Mathieu Vaxivierre was the quickest in the Hypercars in his Alpine. Kevin Estre in the Porsche was the quickest in GTE Pro, while Cetilar Racing’s Antonio Fuoco was the leader in GTE Am.
The quickest lap times of WEC Season 9 Prologue per class:
|GTE Pro||Porsche GT||#92||2:14.198|
