AJ Allmendinger admits that Jeb Burton’s Xfinity Series win at Talladega on Saturday got him very excited.
Jeb Burton went on to win his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega. That win was extremely special for him after all the difficult moments he had had in his career. His Kaulig Racing teammate AJ Allmendinger shared his thoughts on Burton’s win.
“It’s big for everybody on the no.10 team. Bruce Schlicker got his first win as well. But overall, he [Jeb] came here with the mentality of knowing that this is his best opportunity in a long time,” Allmendinger said. “He’s worked hard.”
Allmendinger also emphasized that Jeb Burton’s family had plenty of struggling moments earlier and Saturday’s race win was very meaningful.
“(…) They’ve gone through a lot of ups and downs over the last several years and for Jeb to fight through, be part-time… Like, you almost forgot about Jeb, because you didn’t hear his name a lot. So, for him to fight through it and to get his first win, it’s pretty special,” he commented.
AJ Allmendinger is known for his energetic reactions for race wins. He admitted that Jeb Burton’s win nearly made as exciting as his own victories.
“I’m almost more excited for him winning this race than if I would have won it for sure,” the no.16 car driver said in the conclusion.
