Alpine junior driver Victor Martins managed to place the fastest time of pre-season day 1 of testing at Barcelona. Jack Doohan and Frederik Vesti placed second and third respectively.

The morning session saw rainy conditions, meaning the drivers went out on track with wet compound tires.

Carlin was the first team to send all three drivers out, with Caio Collet, lapping with a time of 1:45.277.

Jak Crawford managed to set the fastest lap of the morning session with a time of 1:33.674, with Pierre-Louis Chovet from Jenzer behind with a time of 1:34.023.

Victor Martins, who placed fastest for the afternoon session, managed to set a time 1:44.680 – while not fast, it was way ahead of afternoon’s third-place Frederik Vesti, who sat a time of 1:45.964, finishing the session in 27th place. Ahead of him was teammate Juan Manuel Correa with a lap time of 1:45.956, with Alexander Smolyar topping the ART GP drivers with a time of 1:45.421.

Chovet was the driver to put in the most laps in the morning session, it being 42. The least amount of laps were run by Hitech’s Roman Stanek, who only did 16.


The afternoon session saw better weather conditions which allowed ART’s Frederik Vesti to improve on his poor performance from the morning, setting a lap time of 1:32.423 which placed him in the third spot of the standings.

Victor Martins from MP Motorsport sat the fastest time of the afternoon session (and the whole day in general) with a 1:31.743. Behind him placed Trident’s Jack Doohan, who did a lap time of 1:32.369.

Pierre-Louis Chovet, who was second fastest in the morning session, dropped down to 26th with a time of 1:33.448.

Most laps of the session were completed by Martins, Stanek, and Iwasa, who all did 50. The least were completed by Charouz’s Michael Belov.
