Lewis Hamilton supposes that Red Bull Racing has a better strategy ahead of the Emilia Romagna GP race.
Lewis Hamilton starts today’s race in Imola from position, while his teammate and last year’s polesitter Valtteri Bottas will be only 8th on the starting grid. At the same time, the Red Bull duo of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen will start the race 2nd and 3rd respectively. More than that, they will be on different sets of tires. This makes Lewis Hamilton think that the Milton Keynes-based team is in more beneficial position strategically.
“If we’re able to get off in order, then they obviously have a bit of a better set of cards in terms of strategy,” Hamilton said. “But that doesn’t mean we can’t pull out something unique and do something different.”
It was also quite difficult for Hamilton to explain what went wrong for Valtteri Bottas in qualifying: “I’m not really sure what happened with Valtteri [Bottas].”
“It’s very hard to overtake here so obviously we probably won’t have the support of him early on, but nevertheless maybe he will make it through. But otherwise, we’ve just got to focus on our job and try and do absolutely everything and more to keep these lads behind,” he added.
