Lewis Hamilton admits it has not been a good race at the Emilia Romagna GP even after the comeback drive.
The Emilia Romagna GP was a rollercoaster race for Lewis Hamilton – he lost the lead at the race start, was closing on Max Verstappen, then stuck in the gravel and hit the barrier, and in the end, made a comeback and finished 2nd with the fastest lap of the race and stayed the championship leader. After the race, the Mercedes driver reflected on his performance on Sunday afternoon as well as congratulated Max Verstappen on the victory and Lando Norris on the podium finish.
“First of all, congratulations to Max, solid work from him and also for Lando,” Hamilton said.
“On my side, it was not the greatest of days, first time I’ve made a mistake in a long time, but I’m happy I was able to bring the car home,” he added.
The Briton also gave the insight on what exactly happened when he ran off the track into the gravel and nearly ended his race prematurely.
“There was only a dry line and I’m guessing in the hurry to get past by everyone I went into the inside and I tried to stop, but the thing didn’t stop and it sent me off, but I’m really grateful that we got going again and bringing points to the team is very important today,” Hamilton commented.
