The Truck Series race at Richmond winner John Hunter Nemechek believes that this has been one of his best performances in his career in the championship.
John Hunter Nemechek had a dominant race at Richmond Raceway on Saturday – after starting 18th he finished 2nd in stage 1, then won stage 2, and in the end won the race itself, making it 2 victories in 2021 and cementing his status of a title contender. More than that, he led 114 laps. After the race, Nemechek spoke about whether it had been his best race in the championship.
“I don’t know if I’d call it my best race in the Truck Series career, but it definitely was one of the best races,” the no.4 Kyle Busch Motorsports driver told ASN Motorsports. “I know that we led a lot of laps, I don’t know exactly how many we’ve led, but we led a lot.”
Nemechek compared the Richmond race win to the Las Vegas one earlier in the year and added that the team owner Kyle Busch must be happy with such results of KBM.
“And Vegas as well, we won one stage there as well, and beat Kyle [Busch] for him to finish second.”
“I definitely feel like it’s up there. Hopefully, we can get into the routine of this when Kyle shows up. I don’t think he would necessarily like that from the driver perspective, but from the team owner [perspective] I definitely think he’s happy.”
In conclusion, John Hunter Nemechek shared the hope that all three Kyle Busch Motorsports trucks would finish in the top 3 in the foresseable future.
“We’re close to full KBM 1-2-3, so hopefully, we can get that soon as well.”
After 6 races, John Hunter Nemechek has 2 race wins, 4 top 5s, and 5 top 10s.
