Joe Graf Jr. believes that the race at Martinsville could be a turning point in his season.
The 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign has not started in the best way for Joe Graf Jr. – his best finish so far is 11th at the Daytona oval. Despite all the troubles early this year, the SS GreenLight Racing driver is optimistic about his chances at Martinsville Speedway.
“I am optimistic about returning to Martinsville Speedway this weekend. I certainly learned a lot in a short amount of time last October and we ended up with a pretty decent finish,” Graf Jr. said in the team statement.
“The last couple of races haven’t gone as we hoped, so Martinsville is a good place to come and try to redeem ourselves following the first break of the 2021 season,” he added.
The 22-year-old from Mahwah, NJ also reflected on the opening races of the season.
“The mentality around the team is pretty good and we’re continuing to learn. Atlanta was a disappointment, but we’re not letting our guard down. We are determined to fight hard and bounce back,” Graf Jr. commented.
“We just need to keep making as little mistakes as possible and hope that everyone’s hard work will pay off with the finishing result on the race track.”
Joe Graf Jr. will start the Xfinity Series race at Martinsville 28th.
