The 1997 Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve thinks that Carlos Sainz can be the one who can put pressure on Charles Leclerc at Ferrari.

This season Scuderia Ferrari has a pair of young and ambitious drivers in Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The Monegasque has been with the team for quite some time, so he naturally feels more at ease than his Spanish teammate. However, Jacques Villeneuve thinks that Sainz can still be difficult to beat for Leclerc.

“For Charles, the real danger is Sainz,” Villeneuve told Corriero dello Sport.

“Carlos has never been in such an important team: he has built himself over time, he arrives with courage and experience, he is used to taking on fast teammates. He’s cold, he studies, he can annoy Charles a lot,” he added.

Although it took Carlos Sainz some time to get used to the Ferrari car, he went on to have a solid opening race weekend in Bahrain – he both qualified and finished 8th.
