Alex Lynn will be behind the steering wheel of United Autosports’ LMP2 car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race later this year.
Alex Lynn comes back to United Autosports. It has been announced earlier on Wednesday that the British driver will participate in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans event with one of the strongest teams in the LMP2 field. He will drive the no.23 car together with Paul di Resta. The Le Mans appearance is an addition to Lynn’s 2021 schedule as he also competes in Formula E with Mahindra Racing
Alex Lynn commented on the United Autosports return: “I’m extremely excited to be joining United Autosports for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours. It feels like I’m going back home, driving a prototype. To be with the defending LMP2 Le Mans-winning team and driver, Paul di Resta, is a great opportunity. After standing on that top step of the podium last year I can’t wait to get going again, and I’m sure we’d all love to do the two!”
Team principals Zak Brown and Richard Dean also had something to say about the announcement.
“I’m delighted to welcome Alex back to our team for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours. Like us, he knows what it takes to win at Le Mans and between him and Paul and their co-driver, I’m sure they will be a lineup to keep an eye on,” Browm said.
“It has been a while since Alex last raced with us and he has gone on to achieve so much as a driver since then. He is a Le Mans winner in GTE and I’m excited to see what he can achieve at Le Mans with our team. Alex will fit in well and work with Paul to get the best out of the car. Welcome to the team Alex,” Dean added.
In the last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Alex Lynn won in the GTE Pro category in the no.97 Aston Martin Racing car together with Harry Tincknell and Maxime Martin.
