The Spanish team Acciona Sainz XE was surprisingly eliminated in the semifinals and was only a spectator in the final. Carlos Sainz could not achieve the desired victory with his teammate Laia Sanz.
The Spaniard was eliminated in the semifinals after Sainz had a slight contact with Loeb and could not recover from it.
Nevertheless, the experienced Spaniard remains positive and optimistic about the future. He believes things will look much better at the race in Senegal. The Spaniard also said that the defeat in the semifinals is disappointing, but they are happy to have done so well over the weekend:
“The semifinal race was as competitive and close as we expected. We had a great start, but we had a little contact with Loeb and got passed. We’re a bit disappointed to have been eliminated, but we’re also happy with the part we played.”
He also had a few words for his teammate Laia Sanz:
“We went from less to more during the weekend. Laia was very good on her debut and I think she will continue to improve from race to race and adapt better to the four wheels. She needs to put in as many miles as possible with a car of this type. There is a lot of talent in this championship and the battle in the races will be very close.”
