Antonio Giovinazzi said that Alfa Romeo can allow itself to “have more fun” after improvements with the car, which made it more competitive in what was a promising Bahrain Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen and Giovinazzi finished 11th and 12th respectively in the first race of the season. While these are non-scoring positions, it is a huge leap in the performance of the Alfa Romeo, making it look like a promising season ahead for the Ferrari-powered squad.
“I think what we saw in the [pre-season] test we confirmed also here in race one,” said Giovinazzi. “We’re much closer to Q3.”
Giovinazzi believes they have a better car in their hands and is confident they will be able to score more points than last year.
“We are confident we have a better car and better power unit as well and we can have fun this year to try to score more points compared to last year,” he concluded.
