Former World Rally Championship title-winning team will be responsible for running the X44 team in this Extreme E season.
Prodrive joins Extreme E this year. However, they will not be a sole entry. It has been revealed that Prodrive will operate the X44 team, founded by the 7-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton after Marc Hynes, who has been about to manage the team, parted ways with Hamilton.
“Extreme E is such an exciting and unique concept and I have been fascinated by the project ever since Alejandro [Agag] launched it almost two years ago,” Prodrive founder and chairman David Richards commented.
“When Lewis [Hamilton] then announced his interest in a team it was a great opportunity for Prodrive to help him realise his personal ambitions from the series,” he added.
Sebastien Loeb and Cristina Gutierrez are the drivers of X44, which will participate in the opening Extreme E race in AlUla this weekend.
