Vettel: “I don’t feel at home” with new Aston Martin car

Sebastian Vettel definitely imagined his arrival at Aston Martin differently. Since the first moment in the car, the relationship between the “Honey Ryder” and the four-time world champion seems tarnished and not really pleasant.

With a 15th place finish, his entry into the “Aston Martin” era was different than imagined. Vettel visibly struggled with the car. This prevented him from concentrating solely on driving and that became his undoing.

Not only P15 was bad for him, but also the whole weekend. First he was demoted five places on the grid for not respecting the yellow flags in Q1, and in the race he received a ten-second penalty for contact with Esteban Ocon. Nevertheless, he remains confident that they will soon solve their problems and achieve good results.

But it wasn’t just the German who got off to a bad start to the season; the team in general didn’t have a good showing.

Lance Stroll in the second Aston Martin car finished tenth, scoring “only” one point for the entire team.

Vettel knows that the pace was lacking and admits that he is not yet completely comfortable in the car:

“It wasn’t the best weekend and it wasn’t what we had imagined. There are a lot of things we learned in the race that we need to address. We’ll see how quickly we can fix it. I don’t feel comfortable in the car, there are a lot of things fighting against me so I can’t just focus on driving. We have to deal with it and try to solve the problem.”
