There are new updates for the 2021 Formula E calendar, according to which the races in Rome and Valencia will each become a “double header”. This adjustment was officially announced by the electric series via press release.
As a result, the Rome E-Prix will host Races 3 and 4, which are scheduled to take place next week on Saturday (April 10) and Sunday (April 11).
The same applies to the first E-Prix on Spanish soil in Valencia. In addition to the race scheduled on Saturday, April 24, a race will also be held on Sunday, April 25. The annual Formula E rookie test should actually have taken place on this day. Whether and when this will be made up for remains open for the time being.
So far, Formula E has announced all the dates up to the double-header in Santiago de Chile on June 5 and 6. How things will continue after that – and whether races may have to be canceled before then – is still unclear.
The press release included the following:
“Formula E will continue to keep a close eye on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is in constant communication with teams, manufacturers, partners, TV broadcasters and venues. Any updates to the calendar are subject to any travel restrictions as well as local government requirements and are subject to approval by the FIA World Council.”
