The reigning champion Lewis Hamilton believes he has done everything in his power to get the Bahrain Grand Prix pole position.
Lewis Hamilton was one of the drivers who could have taken the pole position in Bahrain away from Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen. However, the Bristol managed to qualify second, nearly 0.4s away from the Dutchman. After the session, the Mercedes driver admitted he had done his best on the track, but it was not enough.
“There is always more, but that was the best that I could do, that is for sure. I got absolutely everything I could from the car,” Hamilton said.
Lewis Hamilton also was optimistic about Mercedes’ progress lately: “I think we did a really good job from testing to come here. The lads back of the factory, they’ve really done such an amazing job.”
“And our aero analyst, Kim, she’s been giving such great information for us to be able to prove and get the car where we needed it to be closer to Red Bull,” he added.
Hamilton was happy to get closer to Red Bull, though plenty of job still should be done: “I think to be that close, considering I think in testing we were quite a bit behind.”
