Changes made to Cup Series race structure

The length of stages in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series at Bristol Motor Speedway dirt track has been reviewed.

Friday’s Cup Series practices made an impact on how Sunday’s race will be held. Because of extreme tire wear at Bristol, it has been revealed on Saturday that stage length will be modified for the first Cup race on dirt in 51 years.

Stages 1 and 2 will both be 100 laps long, while the final stage will only be 50 laps. There will also be competition cautions on laps 50 and 150.

The teams will all be provided with an additional tire set as well to prevent tire compound shortage.

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol dirt track will take place on Sunday at 3:30 PM ET.
