Fernando Alonso is quite delighted with his qualifying performance after a challenging weekend for himself and Alpine.
Three free practices in Bahrain were difficult for Fernando Alonso and Alpine as they struggled to find pace and the car balance. However, the Spaniard got into Q3 on Saturday evening and qualified 9th. After the session, the two-time world champion shared his thoughts about it.
“Very content, because the whole weekend has been difficult. I had little confidence in the rear of the car and we have worked a little on the set-up, but I never quite gained that confidence,” Alonso told DAZN F1.
“Then, the tires, that first lap with that peak of performance I don’t understand 100% either. Therefore, I knew I was going to have a challenge there, but everything went very well, better than expected,” he added.
“In the first classification, you never know where you are. Every time I stopped in the box I looked at the monitor and did not know if I was fifth or seventeenth. The truth is that I am very happy to see that we were progressing on the clock,” Fernando Alonso said in the conclusion.
