Sergio Pérez is hoping to make things difficult for Mercedes this season, in a season in which he thinks Red Bull expects to achieve podiums regularly.

Pérez acknowledges that all the expectations about Red Bull and himself affect his way of going into the first race of the year.

“In a way that influences me, because I know I have to deliver every weekend, and I know I have a unique opportunity. And if you do it right you’re on the podium as a minimum, you just have to be prepared every time you go out on track,” Pérez said.

The Mexican says it’s difficult to analyze Red Bull’s performance as of now, but he hopes they will make things difficult for Mercedes. The Silver Arrows have been dominating the sport since the start of the hybrid era.

“It’s hard to know, but I hope we’re capable of having a strong car and compete with Mercedes, making it difficult for them in the next 23 races,” he concluded on the topic.
