McLaren’s team boss Andreas Seidl says that the teams doesn’t want to focus on 2022 in a way that sacrifices their 2021 season.
McLaren switched to the Mercedes package and is showing a strong performance. Seidl says that if the team keeps his performance this weekend at Bahrain, they won’t sacrifice their 2021 season only to focus on 2022.
“We don’t have a clear date to change our focus to 2022, but a solid start to this season would make that decision easy. We have to see how we do in the first races and then a decision will be taken. For us is important to follow this path and we don’t want to sacrifice this season as much,” he stated.
Seidl also said that the new regulations next year will be a step forward for the team, who has been improving since the last 2 years.
